In 2006 Craig Hughes noticed an odd lump or two.  After close inspection and a quick response by his local doctor, Craig was rushed into hospital were he was diagnosed with cancer.  Within a day he was seen, within two it was confirmed and within five it was removed. On closer analysis, it was discovered that he had cancer in three places, one of them perilously close to his left kidney.

Craig made a speedy recovery and after a period of recuperation went for chemotherapy.  After recovering from this process he decided he no longer wanted to be a lawyer and returned to his childhood roots of beekeeping.

Impressed by the way that his hospital (Royal Preston) had reacted and nursed him, and supported by the Rosemere Cancer Foundation based there he decided to do something to support them.

Initially he thought of swimming, marathon running or acts that would highlight the Foundation.  It was only with the creation of Crossmoor Honey Farm, that Craig realised he could have his cake and eat it. He was now able to leave the legal world behind, remain fit, have an outdoor life with his beloved bees and put something back in to the organisation that had saved his life.

From here Crossmoor Honey Farm returns a percentage of its profits directly into the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, supports its open days and programmes and actively campaigns for a better service for all those touched by the long shadow of cancer.

Criag could not have achieved any of this without the support of his wife Jacki.
